Story
The story of premium denim is one intricately intertwined with the fall 2000 launch of 7 For All Mankind LLC in Los Angeles, California. 7 For All Mankind introduced Los Angeles' premium denim to the world, marking LA as denims' center for R and D worldwide and changing the landscape of denim forever.
Founded by Peter Koral of L'Koral Industries, 7 For All Mankind's premium denim jeans exploded onto the scene in 2000, quickly earning critical acclaim for amazing fits, fabrics, and finishes. Sales for the first year reached a staggering $13 million – unheard of in the denim market – and has continued to show exponential growth. 7 For All Mankind is now sold in over 80 countries throughout the world. In the past six years, 7 For All Mankind has become an established modern classic with its sophisticated fits and a leading trend-setter with its newest fashion forward washes and designs.
The brand, famously dubbed "Sevens" by fashion editors and stylists, has grown to fame in no small part due its instant “favorite-jean” status among Hollywood's elite. 7 For All Mankind continues to rank as a preferred jean brand among leading celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Debra Messing, and Drew Barrymore.
In 2002, 7 For All Mankind expanded its line to include a complete Men's Denim Collection that is enjoying the same rapid growth as the women's business and remains the fastest growing segment of sales for the brand. The brand continued to grow with the addition of women's and men's shirts as well as outerwear in fabrics such as corduroy, velvet, twill, and satin. In the fall of 2005, 7 For All Mankind launched a Children’s Denim Collection in response to consumer demand. Adding to the breadth of products, a complete women's knit collection is set to launch in Spring of 2007 as well as 7 For All Mankind's KA7, a complete contemporary women's collection.
The brand's offerings also continue to expand through innovative collaborations such as the creation of the 7 For All Mankind / The Great China Wall Collection in 2005. In the Fall of 2005, 7 For All Mankind teamed up with renowned fashion designer Zac Posen for a limited edition capsule of jeans uniting Posen's high-end couture fashion design with the premium denim world. Limited capsule collaborations also continue into the fall of 2006 with a partnership between Azzedine Alaia and 7 For All Mankind.
Exciting partnerships that push the envelope of design and creativity are now a signature part of the brand's exploratory endeavors. 7 For All Mankind continues to merge the worlds of denim and couture to redefine the fashion landscape.
Founder and Chairman Peter Koral sold a 50 percent stake of 7 For All Mankind in March 2005 to leading investment banking firm Bear Sterns Merchant Banking in order to expand the brand's global business. Mr. Koral retains a 50 percent stake in the company and maintains his title.
