A total of 85,201 professionals visited the fifty-second International Gift, Jewellery and Fashion Jewellery Week

With regard to the event's international dimension, the attendance of nearly 5,000 buyers from 75 countries was recorded.

The fifty-second edition of International Gift, Jewellery and Fashion Jewellery Week concluded last 22nd January. The largest trade event for the consumer goods and home furnishings industry brought together the products and services of some 2,200 exhibitors in the halls at FERIA DE MADRID. Once again, the three fairs that make up the Week: INTERGIFT, the International Gift Fair, BISUTEX, the Jewellery and Accessories Trade Fair, and IBERJOYA, the International Jewellery, Silverware, Watch and Related Industries Exhibition, achieved some excellent results, welcoming a total of 85,201 professionals, which represents an increase of 1.5% compared to January 2006.

With regard to the breakdown of results according to fair, we might highlight the strong business representation once again reflected at INTERGIFT, based on the direct participation of 1,333 companies within an exhibition area measuring 79,998 square metres. We might also highlight the growth of the BISUTEX exhibition, that staged its largest ever event with the participation of 347 companies in an exhibition area measuring some 7,515 square metres.  Both fairs, which share the same distribution channels and present a high level of mutual trade interest, featured the attendance of 62,187 buyers. In the case of IBERJOYA, this event welcomed some 23,014 visitors.

Another aspect of these fairs relates to their international dimension. All three events currently head the rankings of the main European fairs for their respective sectors in this respect. Thus, we might highlight the attendance of nearly 5,000 buyers at International Gift, Jewellery and Fashion Jewellery Week as a whole, of whom 75% registered exclusively for INTERGIFT and BISUTEX.

In the case of INTERGIFT, some 3,341 professionals from 75 countries registered for this fair, mainly from Europe, with considerable growth being recorded in the case of the buyers from Portugal, Italy and France. The extensive exhibition presented at this fair also aroused the interest of up-and-coming markets such as those of Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Romania, whilst also attracting a larger number of Nordic countries, as confirmed by the attendance of professionals from Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden, who were able to discover a selection of products ranging from the purest designs to the warmest and most comfortable Mediterranean decoration lines, which are becoming increasingly popular in Northern Europe.

INTERGIFT also serves as an effective bridge with regard to the American Continent, especially the countries of Latin America, which sends an increasing number of buyers to each edition of the fair from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Porto Rico, and Venezuela, as well as from the United States. At this edition, in addition to promoting the International Guest Programme, the organisers carried out a specific measure in collaboration with the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Madrid in order to boost the number of American buyers attending the three fairs.

The international dimension of BISUTEX also progressed favourably. This fair has renewed its appeal in this respect with a different exhibition, one strongly imbued with a sense of fashion, design and creativity. On this occasion, in addition to the foreign visitors the fair shared with INTERGIFT, BISUTEX recorded the visit of some 329 buyers from around thirty countries.

A Comprehensive and Innovative Exhibition for the Contemporary Home

The exhibition at this edition of INTERGIFT once again revealed the innovative capacity of the exhibiting companies, based on an extraordinary display of integral products and ideas relating to decoration, lighting and textiles, as well as an extensive variety of gift items, travel goods, toys and thousands of references specially designed to enable visitors to prepare for the sales campaign of the first half of the year.

With regard to the two wide-ranging sections at the fair, the halls devoted to home furnishings focused on a personalised decorative approach, based on the presentation of an ample repertoire of foldaway furniture and accessories.  Among these, textiles played a prominent role at the edition, featuring a special emphasis on the freshness of linen and cotton, printed and in lines coordinated in black and white, not to mention brown, orange and vivid green or turquoise. Along the same lines, the lighting products on show at INTERGIFT also played a key role at the exhibition, based on a variety of designs, ranging from simple lamps of minimalist style and Art Deco lines of pure, geometric design, to models in which classic and contemporary styles were successfully combined, not to mention spotlights for creating relaxed ambiences or indirect lighting effects. This edition presented all of the ideas required to create a unique and different atmosphere.

Under the heading of household goods and equipment, the latest trends offer us a number of ergonomic lines and light colours, mainly white in the case of crockery, as well as contrasting styles in the case of cutlery and glassware. The exhibition presented items ranging from the plainest and most stylised models to the most elaborate designs of Rococo inspiration.

Children and Young People: Another Important Dimension at Intergift

Among the numerous ideas on show in the even-numbered halls, a number of amusing and provocative items were aimed at a youth target, being presented alongside gadgets, promotional gifts, company gifts, stationery goods, travel items, bags, rucksacks, as well as a complete catalogue of attractive references relating to the world of children.   Dolls, accessories, soft toys of all sizes, games, toys, licensing products, etc., made up a complete showcase of ideas and new features aimed specially at this trade segment.

Bisutex: Fashion in White, Black, Gold and Silver

For its part, BISUTEX offered visitors an insight into the latest ideas and collections in fashion jewellery and accessories that will play a starring role in window displays for next spring-summer. The exhibition encompassed a comprehensive selection of products, ranging from high-category fashion jewellery - in which a number of prestigious international brands have made their stand - to the most informal, youthful and cutting-edge collections, not to mention an entire repertoire of accessories that have become a must today.   Throughout its 40 editions to date, this exhibition has become one of the most important points of reference on the international inter-seasonal circuit, as well as one of the main forums for the dissemination and promotion of new trends.

In line with this presentational approach, alongside the thousands of collections on show at the stands, BISUTEX presented a unique Trends Forum.  This special section of the fair presented a selection of fashion jewellery and accessory items that illustrated the most innovative fashion trends and the triumphant reign of four basic colours for the season: white, black, gold and silver.  In order to create the Trends Area and establish the trends it encompasses, the fair organisers relied on the collaboration, advice and experience of the exhibiting companies.

Under the heading of fashion jewellery, we might also highlight the following trends: a sophisticated, sensual, elegant and versatile range of designs; a combination of materials, such as silver and leather - in plain, braided and chain-like format - not to mention glass, enamel and mother-of-pearl; linen and natural gems, including tourmalines, topazes, citrines, amethysts, olivines, turquoises, etc.; and the incorporation of brown shades, ranging from beige to chocolate and including a range of fuchsias, as well as lime, orange, red and the entire spectrum of blues.

A cheerful, bright and light-filled ambience imbued the BISUTEX hall with a glittering and shining appeal, reflected in all kinds of accessories, especially bags and small leather items, where red played a prominent role alongside white, black and metallic gold and silver.
