High Fashion in an unusual, exceptional setting

Fashion gallery at CPD DÜSSELDORF from 23 to 25 July 2006 As the creative heart of CPD DÜSSELDORF, the Fashion Gallery is synonymous with fashion which has an individual touch and uncompromising design style. The joint platform is a meeting point for the international scene. In an elegant, exquisite showroom setting, avant-gardists, exclusive designer labels and impressive newcomers from all over the world are presented - a genuine Mecca for all those who are looking for that something special. This is where individualists present themselves: Gesine Moritz, Evelin Brandt, Sonja Marohn and Anett Röstel from Germany. The Swiss Label from Switzerland, Petrovitch & Robinson from France or Ian Mosh from Spain. Also strongly represented are Scandinavian designers such as Trine Kuyger Simonsen, Marimekko, Finn Karelia or Aniki Karvinen. Well-known newcomers such as Renate Harvan, Caractère, Donassy, Francoise Pendville or Uli Schneider are ensuring fresh impulses.

Designers from Mexico
They are regarded as part of the design avant-garde in their home country of Mexico. Now for the first time, they are jointly presenting themselves on an international platform: Armando Mafud, Carmen Rión, Carlo Demichelis, Mascario Jiménez and Sarah Bustani presented their collections last April at the Fashion Week Mexico-City. That was where the idea for the joint fair presentation within the framework of the CPD came about. The joint stand in the Fashion Gallery is being supported by Camexa Servicios S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of the German-Mexican Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Armando Mafud
The renowned fashion designer began his career in the 1980s by creating accessoires.
Today he produces Haute Couture which is characterized by a striking, Mexican style.
Carlo Demichelis
Big names such as Hermés, Adolfo Dominguez and Oleg Cassini are also on the list of his creations as are costume designs for the “Nut Cracker Suite” ballet. Dimechelis has been marketing and promoting his collections at his own store in Polanco since 2004. In the same year he was also presented with the National Design Prize.
Carmen Rión
The fact that opposites attract is Carmen Rións’ preferred theme. With her passion for different fabrics, the designer has successfully created the combination between industrial
production and Mexican textile tradition - a claim which also finds expression in the controversial names of her collections.
Macario Jiménez
He is celebrating a spectacular comeback this year. Following the completion of his studies at the Milan Design Academy Marangoni, Macario Jiménez initially worked with Gianno Lo Gudice and launched his first own collection in 1994. His creations, which have won numerous prizes, have been displayed among others at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Sarah Bustani
Comfort and mobility characterize the clothing items designed by Sarah Bustani. The designer prefers to work with lycra, as this man-made fabric perfectly conveys and supports the youthful-light elegance of her creations. Her debut collection from 1995 was distributed throughout renowned Mexican companies such as Liverpool, LC Penney und Palacio de Hierro.
