Casa Pasarela, the Design Fair for Home Trends, stages its third edition between 15th and 18th February at Feria de Madrid

The kitchen becomes the star of the contemporary home

The top manufacturers in the world are exhibiting the latest collections and new trends for the kitchen, one of the most important spaces in today's home

The new design trends and the best proposals in quality materials for the home are presented this year at Casa Pasarela 2007, the trade fair for 'The art of living' that will take place between 15th and 18th February. Organised by IFEMA and Acción Pasarela Promotores, this third edition puts a special emphasis on the new shapes to structure and design one of the rooms that has become a key part of the home over the past few years in Spanish homes: the kitchen.

Today's home shows the evolution of advanced society and hosts the needs for contemporary quality of life and health, circumstances which include, obviously food and food preparation. This trend has not gone by unnoticed for Casa Pasarela, which has also turned the kitchen into one of the stars of the new homes.

The designs and proposals on display at this international fair reflect all the options and possibilities to bring together top quality and technological advances available to fit out the kitchen with state-of-the-art elements.

The most outstanding names

The most avant-garde and prestigious brands on the international scene are the stars in this important section of 'the art of living' formed by the kitchen, amongst which is worth mentioning the new proposal by Comprex with People Collection, a new kitchen system with "U" openings on the fronts of the cupboards and many possibilities in colours and materials. Essential shapes, wide spaces and a warm ambience are the strong points of this project by the architects Marconato and Zappa.

D'Oliva Terra will present the Aga cookers that respond to the new habits derived from a healthy, gourmet style cooking. The company offers compact design models, available fuelled by natural gas or propane gas and it offers a range of fourteen different colours. Aga presents a revolutionary cooking system, which concentrates the heat over many hours and keeps it at the right temperature at the same time as it prevents the food from drying out and maintains all the natural juices. The entire cooker acts storing the heat and transmitting it to the ovens and hotplates. A thermostatic control keeps the temperature constant, whilst an insulation system ensures reasonable fuel consumption.

The prestigious Spanish firm MétodoNuzzi will exhibit its most advanced designs conceived for innovative kitchens on an attractive stand, where it features textures in different finishes; modern opening systems; attractive ranges of anodized aluminium and new materials with low weight structures that allow the installation of large shelves. With regard to colours, it is using the combination of black and white to which it incorporates shiny mirror touches that inspire a kitchen with an eminently aesthetic nature. The company has been awarded many international prizes and its kitchens have been installed in houses in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Holland, Japan, Russia, Argentina, Portugal and the Dominican Republic.

The Varenna kitchens will also be on show at this edition, presented by the company Gunni. Designed by Carlo Colombo, they transmit the maximum modern idea sought for in today's home. Its adaptation possibilities cover everything from spacious, independent rooms to fitted kitchens in small spaces for young people's homes.

With Casa Pasarela, Madrid joins New York and Milan as a centre for the habitat design culture. Therefore the aim of this fair is to reach out a public that is becoming more and more demanding and connoisseur of avant-garde trends from top creators from all over the world.

All the design in the world at Casa Pasarela

The perfect marriage between quality and creativity is the main value that Casa Pasarela wants to transmit. Therefore, top brands and their creators will be present at the third edition of Casa Pasarela, continuing with the trend set forth in the two previous editions with the presence of Jean Marie Massaud, Belén y Rafael Moneo and Patricia Urquiola amongst others.

With 5,640 m2 of exhibition space, the show covers all the design and comfort ideas required by the contemporary home, in furnishing, lighting, upholstery, homeware or decoration proposals, as well as the new lifestyles that progressively incorporate the office at home, and the growing importance of building elements to aid the perfect coupling of the latest trends in consumer electronics and robotics.

Therefore, this third edition of Casa Pasarela has been structured to shows how the avant-garde nature, the quality, the design and the technology, can and must come together in the 21st century home. At the same time, this edition confirms its consolidation as an important international art and design trade fair, linked to another two events devoted to Art (Arco) and Fashion (the Madrid International Fashion Week).
