CeBIT 2007
CeBIT 2007 in the words of its exhibitors…
Achim Berg, Managing Director of Microsoft Deutschland GmbH: “CeBIT 2007 was a great success for us. We were more than satisfied with both the quantity of visitors and the quality of our talks. We also found the new concept for CeBIT to be very convincing. We will definitely be back as exhibitors at next year’s CeBIT.”
Dr. Ralf Strauss, Head of Marketing Central Europe SAP Deutschland AG & Co. KG: “For us at SAP, the 21st CeBIT was a very successful show. Our new customer leads were up 50 percent compared with the last CeBIT. And the quality of those leads also improved sharply. Together with our nearly 60 partners who were also represented at CeBIT 2007, we experienced one of the most successful CeBIT shows ever.”
Frank Bolten, Managing Director of Sharp Electronics Germany/Austria: “Sharp was more than satisfied with the run of CeBIT 2007. A large percentage of decision-makers visited us at our stand — and business was first-rate. Large-screen, flat-panel Full HD LCD TVs represented a mega-trend at this year’s CeBIT. We believe that in 2007 more than 3.4 million LCD TVs will be sold in Germany alone. The era of XXL television sets has begun!”
Martin Jetter, Chairman and General Manager of IBM Germany: “Our new concept involving innovative and integrated solutions for any size of enterprise as well as our traditional hardware and software offerings made for a convincing combination that was very well received by our audience. This was reflected in a greatly increased, qualitatively high-grade number of business leads and potential follow-up business. Our “Future Windows,” in which we demonstrated that IT goes far beyond mere business processes to penetrate diverse socio-political realms, met with a great deal of interest.”
Rudolf Gröger, CEO of o2 Germany: “We were happy with the overall run of CeBIT. We had more visitor traffic at our stand than the year before. This was partly due to our move to Hall 26, where we were well-placed — every customer who was interested in telecommunications visited this hall. The organizers’ strategy of concentrating display themes in the same hall proved successful.”
Axel Rückert, CEO of debitel AG: As anticipated, we met with all of our key trading partners to talk about the latest trends on the telecommunications market. CeBIT is traditionally a platform where we can engage in thorough contact with media representatives as well as our customers. A platform like CeBIT is important for Germany’s standing as an economic location.”
Wolfgang Kneilmann, Vice President Central Europe NCR: “We were highly satisfied with our business at the show, which however was also due to our having planned our CeBIT appearance right down to the last detail. Our visitors had already internalized the paradigm shift for CeBIT 2008 and came this year armed with some very concrete ideas.”
Professor Dieter Kempf, CEO of DATEV eG: “As the flagship show, CeBIT remains indispensable for decision-makers from the ICT sector and other sectors that use ICT solutions. And this, regardless of the size of the enterprise, for anyone who wants to find out today how they can better and more profitably manage their factory or enterprise by deploying state-of-the-art IT and communications solutions tomorrow.”
Marcel Schneider, President and Managing Director of Sun Microsystems GmbH: This year we set up advance individual appointments with regular customers in the private area of our lounge. We used CeBIT as the meeting place for these high-quality contacts. For a B2B manufacturer, Saturday and Sunday are slow days, with a low rate of trade visitors. In the future we would like to see a clearer division between the B2B and consumer segments.”
Karl-Heinz Streibich, CEO Software AG: “Our return to CeBIT this year was a complete success and the right decision for Software AG. We were able to talk about IT and management issues with several hundreds of customers and enjoyed excellent contacts with media and political representatives. Software AG will be an exhibitor at CeBIT again in 2008.”
Hannes Schwaderer, Managing Director of Intel Germany: “CeBIT once again proved to be the ideal tradeshow for Intel. Our new setup was enthusiastically received. Consumers were able to get a fun look at our technology on display. Intel has also always been strongly represented at the stands of its partners, and the positive economic mood was tangible.”
Eckhard Spoerr, CEO of freenet AG: “For freenet AG, CeBIT 2007 was much more than just a trade fair. After the long-anticipated merger of mobilcom and freenet.de, it was also the starting shot for our successful future as a universal provider active in the telecommunications sector. The feedback received by our staff at the freenet stand confirmed that we are on the right track. For this reason alone, CeBIT was once again a complete success for our enterprise.”
Ulrich Hamann, Chairman and General Manager Bundesdruckerei GmbH: “Bundesdruckerei GmbH really hit the bull’s-eye with its ‘next generation ID’ motto for this year’s CeBIT. That’s because the show itself also advanced the slogan of ‘Next-generation CeBIT’. Numerous trade visitors with targeted interests, scarcely a drop in visitor traffic on the weekend and a relaxed atmosphere all had a positive impact on the character of this year’s show. We are expecting the new structure to contribute to an even more sharply defined tradeshow profile next year.”
Bernd Völcker, Management Board of Infopark AG, Berlin: “CeBIT has again become an engine for our industry. The economy is experiencing a noticeable upswing, and we had many conversations about IT solutions with attending professionals. The upshot of our appearance was full order books and numerous customer appointments. The new CeBIT concept is already bearing fruit, and we are looking forward to next year’s event.”
Jochen Moll, Managing Director of EMC Deutschland GmbH: “The run of CeBIT 2007 corresponded to our expectations. Our customers used this year’s show as a platform to find out more about our integrated solutions portfolio. Here we can display our complete range of offerings — something we were unable to do previously at other locations.”
Jens Kürten, Head of External Communication at Vodafone: “CeBIT continues to be a good place for us to present our innovations. Interest in our new products and services, for example our ultra-high-speed 7.2 mbps mobile communications network, on the part of business customers, dealers and private consumers was extremely high. Even the political figures who visited our stand were impressed — for example, German Chancellor Merkel, Minister Schavan and Minister Glos, plus state minister-presidents Wulff and Oettinger.”
Uwe Jens Neumann, Managing Director of the Hamburg Business Development Corporation (HWF) and Hamburg@work: “The success of our joint Hamburg-Schleswig-Holstein pavilion featuring digital-sector enterprises, public administration and universities vastly exceeded our expectations. Our motto — ‘connect & communicate; we’re integrating the North’ — appears to have perfectly expressed the industry’s need for a networking venue. CeBIT is exactly the right platform for this. We are looking forward to returning next year with new ideas and even more participants.”
Walter M. Schill, Managing Director of Fabasoft Deutschland: “We are very satisfied with the run of CeBIT 2007. Many highly-qualified visitors visited our stand at the Public Sector Park pavilion to find out more about the Bavarian ELDORA eGovernment project as well as the DOWEBA Federal Railway Authority project. Key topics in our conversations included transaction processing without format barriers and e-mail archiving. We are pleased that Deutsche Messe is planning more publicity for Public Sector Park at CeBIT 2008. Based on this, we will most likely be represented at CeBIT as exhibitors again in 2008.”
Lars Hinrichs, Chief Executive Officer/Founder of XING: “CeBIT is and remains for us the most important computer show in the world; it represents an ideal opportunity for ourselves and Deutsche Messe to invite our 1.7 million members to a real networking event. Around 500 members took us up on this offer and networked until late in the night. That only happens at CeBIT!”
Herbert Vogel, CEO of itelligence AG: “For me CeBIT 2007 was characterized by the good mood among our visitors. We were able to conduct some very concrete talks — with customers and interested parties who had brought clear budgets with them. The level of service at the show has improved.”
Chris Henn, Vice President Business Development, E2E Technologies Ltd.: “This was the first appearance at CeBIT for E2E, so we naturally had particularly high expectations for the show. To our great delight, we had already achieved our targets by the fourth day of the show. Overall we had 70-80% more qualitatively good talks than we were anticipating. The weekend definitely contributed to this, although we had had some mixed emotions about it based on the experience of past years. But on Saturday and Sunday we had talks that resulted in successful deals that justified our entire tradeshow appearance. Definitely a positive trend.”
Thorsten Urbanski, Public Relations Manager G DATA Software AG: “G DATA Software AG considers CeBIT 2007 a complete success. Even after two days we had registered a tangible increase in qualified business contacts compared with the previous year. The decision by G DATA Security to use CeBIT again to premier its new products undoubtedly contributed to our positive showing. In contrast to the generally projected trend, we feel that CeBIT is experiencing an upturn again.”
