Summit meeting of EU ICT ministers at CeBIT 2007

–Michael Glos, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, invites EU ICT ministers to an informal conference in Hannover –CeBIT: the stage for international politics at the highest level

A summit meeting of ministers for information and telecommunications technology in the EU member states is taking place for the first time next year at the trade show CeBIT in Hannover (15 – 21 March 2007). As Germany assumes the presidency of the EU, the Federal German government, in the person of Federal Minister of Economic Affairs Michael Glos, has invited the European ICT ministers to an informal EU conference in Hannover.
Lower Saxony’s Premier Christian Wulff and his Minister for Economic Affairs Walter Hirche welcome this intiative: “We are delighted that this high-profile event is taking place in the capital city of Lower Saxony. It would be hard to think of a more appropriate venue than CeBIT in Hannover – after all, this is where the cream of the ICT industry worldwide meets every year to set the agenda for the future.”
Their pleasure is shared by Ernst Raue, member of the Board of Management at Deutsche Messe in Hannover: “This means that the leading international trade fair for the ICT industry will for the first time become a platform for ICT ministers from many countries, who are coming here to discuss the latest developments.” The conference takes place on 15 March at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds. Some 30 ministers from all the EU member states are expected to attend.
