The education programme is key in helping all individuals who are working either professionally or beginners with the meetings industry. Seminars Organised in conjunction with the key professional industry associations, the GIBTM professional education programme encourages learning and development through targeted seminar sessions aimed at all industry sectors. Throughout the 3 days key issues will be addressed by industry figures, inspiring new ideas and thought processes.
The programme will focus on current and future trends within the worldwide and regional Gulf meetings industry. Open to everyone, the professional education programme will be held throughout the duration of GIBTM and will cover key issues and hot topics relevant to the industry with contributions from ICCA, MPI and SITE – more information can be found at www.gibtm.travel Entrance to all seminars is free of charge for all event attendees. • “The Protocol of running meetings in the Middle East” This session will include cross-cultural practices and will also look into international cultural issues.
• “Global trends in the Meetings Industry” This session will include the GIBTM Industry Research – Presented by Sally Greenhill, Paul Kennedy and NPI
• “Technology in meeting planning and execution” Panel discussion on the technology available in the meetings industry facilitated by Mike Southan. • Incentives as a motivational and marketing tool specifically for Corporate planners within the Middle East. Speaker Padraic Gilligan – SITE President
• “Design a SenSaTional Event” This session is an inspirational interactive hands-on workshop, which discovers the important elements/ingredients and steps in creating a SenSaTional Event. This is a practical workshop designed for both meeting planners for their events but would also be of interest to Suppliers on how to meet their clients requirements and expectations.
• “How venues add value to the meeting planner” Venue and Planner case studies presented by Rod Cameron in conjunction with AIPC
• “International Meetings: The 10 most essential legal issues” The session aims to provide an insight into International contracts for both the planners and suppliers within the Middle East - presented by Joshua Grimes
• “Middle East as a destination from the overseas buyers view” The seminar will look at deciding factors (other than rates), changes in the buying pattern and emerging destinations. A session for both senior and junior members of the Hotel industry looking into Supply Chain Management, event logistics and marketing and is also being planned GIBTM Industry Research.
This was launch in 2007 as the first ever attempt at creating statistical data on key industry trends both in and outbound for the meetings industry in the Gulf region. The second edition will be launched at GIBTM on Tuesday 8th April, from 11.00 to 12.00 as part of the seminar programme. GIBTM in association with MeetMe (NPI) will present the findings. The results are expected to address the future business potential for the region identifying valuable trends and statistics for both regional suppliers looking to target and attract new business into the region, as well as international suppliers looking for an insight into new prospects operating from within the region.
