2007 HERMES AWARD: International Technology Prize of HANNOVER MESSE
One of the most lucrative industry prizes worldwide
In 2007 Deutsche Messe AG will be presenting the HERMES AWARD 2007 for the fourth time. The goal is to highlight ground-breaking innovations and solutions under the umbrella of HANNOVER MESSE, the world’s premier industrial trade show. Worth a total of 100,000 euros, the 2007 HERMES AWARD is one of the most highly endowed industrial prizes worldwide. The participating companies and organizations not only enjoy extensive additional publicity, but also have the opportunity to establish contacts with key decision-makers in the relevant user industries. The HERMES AWARD is open to all companies and organizations which are exhibiting at HANNOVER MESSE 2007. The entry forms must be submitted by 12 February 2007 at the latest. Further information – plus the relevant terms and conditions – are available via the Internet (www.hermesaward.com). The patrons of the HERMES AWARD are Dr. Annette Schavan (the Federal Minister of Education and Research) and Christian Wulff (the Premier of the State of Lower Saxony). The independent jury will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wahlster, Executive Director of the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence and member of the Nobel Prize Academy. The Award is restricted to products and solutions that are on display for the first time at HANNOVER MESSE 2007. These must have undergone industrial trials or have already entered practical application. In terms of their technical and economic realization the products and solutions must constitute a significant technological advancement. From 16 to 20 April all the entries for the 2007 HERMES AWARD will be on display in the “Research & Technology” section of HANNOVER MESSE (Hall 2) The 2007 HERMES AWARD will be presented during the official opening ceremony of HANNOVER MESSE on 15 April 2007. The 2006 HERMES AWARD went to a new RFID transponder developed by Harting Mitronics AG, Biel/Switzerland (a subsidiary of the HARTING Group, Espelkamp/Germany). Competing for the award paid dividends for HARTING: “The 2006 HERMES AWARD focused attention on the role of RFID in logistics and industry and on the possibilities for securing Europe’s future as a production location. Thanks to the publicity generated by the Award, HARTING was in a position to initiate numerous new activities. During HANNOVER MESSE we established more than 200 new direct contacts. HARTING has made a name for itself in the area of RFID. Without the Award we could not have generated the same degree of attention as quickly,” says Dietmar Harting, the personally liable partner of HARTING KGaA, Espelkamp.
