Iberjoya September 2007 strengthens identity and arouses new expectations within the industry

Iberjoya September 2007 strengthens identity and arouses new expectations within the industry The next edition of the International Jewellery, Silverware, Watch and Related Industry Exhibition will occupy the new Halls 12 and 14 at Feria de Madrid. The fair’s new infrastructures will facilitate growth in terms of exhibition space and some important improvements with regard to services

The thirty-ninth edition of IBERJOYA, which is due to take place between 13th and 17th September 2007, will inaugurate Halls 12 and 14 at Feria de Madrid. This new location forms part of the overall reorganisation project that has been carried out at International Gift, Jewellery and Fashion Jewellery Week, taking advantage of the new infrastructures created as part of Expansion Project II at the IFEMA fairground.

In this respect, IBERJOYA will strengthen its identity and create a series of new expectations among exhibiting companies, who, as of this edition, will have a new and different promotional and presentational forum for the industry, featuring the best and latest-generation facilities. Both halls will offer direct access via the fairground's East Entrance, along with separate registration points and extensive parking areas, thus facilitating the flow of exhibitors and visitors and ensuring that the fair operates smoothly. The new halls will also enable Iberjoya to expand, based on an exhibition area that is expected to increase by around 10% this year. The design and distribution of the fair's stands will also be improved and the fair will incorporate a series of new relaxation areas and meeting-points for professionals.

In this sense, the layout at the next edition will be based on four main criteria: Haute Joaillerie and Silverware; Time-pieces; Commercial Jewellery and Silver, and Related Sectors. All of this will be complemented by an added-value fashion dimension, based on an exhibition that reflects all the dynamic and creative virtues of an industry that is becoming increasingly attentive to international trends and consumer tastes.

Complete Participation

Iberjoya - September 2007 will feature the direct participation of more than 500 companies from the main Spanish areas of production, the majority coming from Madrid; Andalusia and the wide range of manufacturers from Cordova; Catalonia, Valencian Region; Galicia and the Basque Country, not to mention Aragón, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Castile – León, Murcia and Navarra, thus consolidating the scope and interest of the fair at a national level.

With regard to foreign participation, visitors will be able to discover the ideas of exhibitors from 13 different countries, including various regions of strong jewellery-making tradition, such as Italy. This dimension of the fair has confirmed the participation of some 56 companies to date from Germany, Andorra, Belgium, Colombia, United Arab Emirates, France, Greece, India, Mexico, Poland, Portugal and Turkey.

Sixth Trends Fashion Show and Other Activities

One of the fair's most important events is the presentation of the Iberjoya Trends Fashion Show, an activity that will stage its sixth edition this year, consolidating its role as one of the best showcases for the intimate relationship between fashion and jewellery. This informative forum for the trade promotes design and innovation at every edition, highlighting their importance as key aspects when it comes to boosting competitiveness and promoting relations between suppliers and clients. On this occasion, the Fashion Show, which is due to take place on the afternoon / evening of Friday 14th September, will recreate the world of cruises, under the heading of Iberjoya Cruise.

As at previous editions, a series of ceremonies and presentations of awards and special mentions will revolve around the Iberjoya Trends Fashion Show, recognising various outstanding contributions to the jewellery industry as a whole: This is the case of the traditional   homage awards that will be presented by Iberjoya and the Jewellery Makers and Silversmiths Guild of Madrid to retailers who have been running their businesses for more than 50 years and the Duplex Group that recognises the contribution made by  entrepreneurs. Furthermore, the fair will provide the setting for the presentation of the Tahitian Pearl Trophy Diplomas and, for the second year running, Iberjoya will host the presentation of the AN Gem Awards, organised in memory of Antonio Negueruela. All these events will take place in the Auditorium of the North Convention Centre at FERIA DE MADRID a few minutes before the Fashion Show. And to conclude this exciting range of activities, the fair will stage its traditional IBERJOYA Gala Dinner.

 AN Gem Awards

The company, Antonio Negueruela, will take advantage of IBERJOYA SEPTEMBER 2007 in order to stage the second edition of the AN Gem Awards, organised in homage to Antonio Negueruela.  Following the considerable success of the last edition, which featured the participation of more than 150 elite designers from the Spanish jewellery scene, the forecasts for this year point to an even higher level of participation and the definitive consolidation of this initiative, in its role as a means of promoting and renewing jewellery design with coloured stones.

The Competition will feature the categories known as GEMerald, GEMotion and GEMadness, in which coloured stones must form part of the central appeal of the piece, complemented by metal and other materials.

In addition to the cash prize, the Gem Awards feature extensive media coverage, both for the award winners and the Competition's finalists. All of the designs on paper and the pieces themselves will be exhibited for visitors to peruse in a series of showcases at the Iberjoya exhibition. Those who are interested can also view these designs on the Competition web page www.angemawards.com.
