Nude Focuses promotion on Mediterranean creativity

The space at Habitat Valencia Forward that showcases designs by new talent is being heavily promoted to design schools. The Organising Committee is presenting the 2007 Salón Nude to the leading colleges in Mediterranean Spain in a promotional drive taking in Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia and Castellón.

This will be the sixth Salón Nude, a cultural platform that has become a focal point where young designers and professionals in the built environment industry can discover new trends and innovations. The Organising Committee has already called for submissions for the next show and has intensified the promotional drive aimed at the design schools in the Mediterranean area of Spain.

José Manuel Ponz, director of Habitat Valencia Forward, has stated that "following our prospecting visits to the leading design schools we have decided to focus on the creativity coming out of the country´s Mediterranean area as it holds enormous potential".

Nude has thus been promoted to more than a dozen design schools in Barcelona, Valencia and Palma de Mallorca and, this week, a delegation will be visiting the Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño (the School of Art and Advanced Design) and to the Universidad Jaime I (Jaime I University) in Castellón.

Registration for the next Salón Nude opens on 15th May and the closing date for receipt of submissions is 30th May. Submissions may be made by young designers, design students, galleries, publishers and design companies that have been in business for less than five years. Projects selected for the Salón will be displayed at the next Habitat Valencia Forward, which is set to take place at Feria Valencia from 24th to 29th September.

A springboard into the professional world

The Salón is a unique opportunity for new designers to make contact with the professional world and show their work, as has been demonstrated by those who have participated in previous years. José Manuel Ponz has commented that "Nude is a first step into the professional world from which much can be learned. It is also a meeting point for designers that has produced a number of professionals and practices that are very significant in today?s world of design."

There will be new features to the sixth Nude when it opens. The show is being relocated this year, to Feria Valencia´s main lobby area, which has one of the venue´s highest footfalls. Equally, work is concentrating on designing a larger, more attractive space, increasing the number of works being displayed and maintaining the standard and the exposure that the Salón has achieved.
