s(eco)nd glance
POOL’s new branch entitled s(eco)nd is getting more than just a second look as it prepares for its August debut. s(eco)nd will showcase the best talents from the new breed of environmentally & socially conscious organizations working to change the apparel industry.
Highlights that will launch with s(eco)nd include:
Linda Loudermilk | Luxury Eco™ women’s & men’s contemporary collections Ryann women’s Manimal collection & shoes ok dreamer men’s Linda Loudermilk Linda Loudermilk returned from Paris runway to Los Angeles to launch Linda Loudermilk and with it, the luxury eco™ movement. Forget hemp tunics. In fact, forget hemp entirely. Fabrics are developed from sasawashi, bamboo, sea cell, soya and other exotic self-sustaining plants that honor nature in ethos and on the runway.
Luxury eco™ aims to give eco glamour legs with the message that eco can be edgy, loud, fun, playful, feminine (or not) and hyper-cool. The Loudermilk line is all about polished, put-together looks that pack an iconoclastic punch, because nature is the original punk. Redefining sustainability, Linda Loudermilk outfits the movement, providing the uniform for this new kind of earth warrior fueled by design, and like nature herself, with foundations to shake.

Ryann Ryann was founded with designer Raina Blyer’s vision to seamlessly connect the artistic creativity of fashion and the importance of environmental preservation. All Ryann clothing is made of organic and recycled fabric so that no poisonous pesticide and chemical fertilizers were used in the growing of cotton, soy bamboo or hemp for the products. With pieces ranging from fun and fashion-forward to stylish and sophisticated, this eco-chic line of women’s wear is better suited for candidates on the campaign trail than a hiking trail.

Manimal Manimal is the quintessential wardrobe for the nouveau-hippie urbanite. The line offers denim bottoms, moccasins and accessories that come in an earthy palette and equally earth-friendly fabrics. Designed with a modern slant on motifs from nature (antler earrings should be in MoMA), all pieces are hand-made in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.

ok dreamer An art-driven men’s collection, ok dreamer encompasses the music, lifestyle and design savvy of street culture combined with the values of the green generation, bringing streetwear a to higher consciousness. Eco- Socio- and Fashion Forward values are represented throughout the collection and its production, from the graphic design, to the garments they print, to the inks they use, to the clean-up (with orange and soy based solvents). And as if that is not enough, the money they make goes back to support social and environmental causes.
