Veteco 2008: Veteco will reflect the strenght of the second most important window-manufacturing industry in Europe

Veteco 08 will be held at Feria de Madrid, between May 6th and 9th, 2008. The future of the industry will depend on rehabilitation and the raising of quality standards. The industry represented at the International Window, Curtain Walls and Structural Glass Trade Show, VETECO '08, has consolidated its position as the second most important in Europe under the heading of window manufacturing.

The future of this industry will depend on the development of the rehabilitation segment and improvements regarding quality standards, according to a spokesman from ASEFAVE, the Spanish Association of Light Façade and Window Manufacturers, Roberto González de Zárate. The trade meeting, organised by IFEMA, will take place between 6th and 9th May 2008, at Feria de Madrid
Although building activities are witnessing something of a slump, the rehabilitation segment presents considerable room for development. In fact, in Europe, rehabilitation within this field accounts for 36 per cent of overall building activity, whilst in Spain the figure comes to just 24 per cent. Another favourable influencing factor consists of the Spanish Technical Building Code, CTE, and the new Spanish Building Law, LOE. Both pieces of legislation will provide a boost for the industry by helping to raise the already high quality levels of Spanish products.
The Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification, AENOR, will take advantage of its presence at Veteco in order to present its Certified Quality Stand, alongside ASEFAVE. This is the fourth consecutive year in which AENOR and ASEFAVE have organised this initiative. This stand will present products that have been certified by AENOR. All certifications are granted after completion of the corresponding tests and are designed to guarantee quality levels to users.
Furthermore, ASEFAVE will organise a Specialised Conference within the framework of Veteco '08 on 9th May. This event will be entitled "The EC Seal and the Impact of the Spanish Technical Building Code (CTE) on Windows and Light Façades" and will seek to facilitate the fulfilment of these requirements on the part of Spanish manufacturers.
Veteco '08 will present a trade and promotional forum based on the presence of one of the leading European industries, one that offers a high-quality product consisting of all kinds of windows, a key element in any home when it comes to guaranteeing comfort, noise insulation and other features that users demand within the modern home.
In Spain, as in the rest of the Southern European countries, aluminium predominates over PVC, which is mainly used in Northern Europe. In short, 70% of windows in Spain are made of aluminium, 15% are made of wood and 10% are made of PVC, with the remaining 5% being made of mixtures of these materials. Of the 70% made of aluminium, based on the requirements established by the Technical Building Code (CTE), at least half incorporate thermal breaks. The trend is for this feature to gradually increase in the future, based on the ongoing efforts of manufacturers to raise the quality levels of their products.
